What Can I Eat with FSGS

What Can I Eat with FSGSWhat can I eat with FSGS? This topic is often concerned by FSGS patients. But there are still a lot of patients who do not have a clear mind about their diet. Some researches show that some kidney patients suffer from relapse because of the imbalanced diet. Since renal diet plays such an importance role in controlling the disease, what can I eat? Now let’s have a quick look.

High quality protein

No matter healthy people or FSGS patients need protein to meet the physical need. But if you have proteinuria or azotemia, you should limit the intake of protein. The amount of protein intake depends on your kidney function. Because high quality protein contains more essential amino acids which can reduce the workload of kidneys, it is preferred. Egg white, lean meat, fish and poultry without skin are all high quality protein.

Unsaturated fat

High cholesterol level increases your risk of heart disease. If you have high cholesterol level, you should limit the intake of fat, but you can eat moderate unsaturated fat, such as fish oil, flaxseed oil, etc. Unsaturated fat helps lower cholesterol level and protects your heart.

Fresh vegetables and fruits

Fresh vegetables and fruits are always good choices for you to control the disease, because they are packed with various vitamins, minerals, dietary fiber and other phytochemicals. they are all good for FSGS patients. For example, vitamin C boosts immune system so as to protect you from aliments, calcium strengthens your bones to prevent renal bone disease, and fiber lowers cholesterol and helps constipation. But sometimes you should pay attention to its potassium or phosphorus content when they are beyond the normal range.

As a matter as fact, FSGS patients do not have a strict restriction on certain food. What they can eat depends on their medical condition. If you would like a personalized diet plan or treatment plan, please feel free to contact online doctor or leave a message below.
