What Diet Can FSGS Patients Have

What Diet Can FSGS Patients HaveWhat diet can FSGS patients have? A well-planed diet helps to alleviates discomforts and improve kidney function, whereas a bad diet worsen kidney condition and speed up illness progression. FSGS is not deadly and also causes no obvious discomforts when it is in early stage. However, when it develops to late stage, more health tissues will be caused. Well, what diet can FSGS patients have to better their kidney and avoid further health problems?

In FSGS, a diet plan should be made based on patients’ exact illness condition. Even if they are all suffering from FSGS, they may need to eat differently due to the difference of their physical condition and also the different severity of illness condition. For this reason, it is really hard to give out an exact diet plan that is suitable for all the FSGS patients, but generally, they need to put the following several points into consideration in their daily diet.

-High quality protein

High quality protein is usually recommended for kidney disease patients, including people with FSGS. Compared with other protein, high quality protein can be fully consumed by our body. The end product of protein is urea nitrogen which need to be removed out of the body by kidney. For FSGS patients, they can get necessary nutrient from high quality protein and meanwhile add no extra burden on kidney, because less urea is produced if we ingest high quality protein.

-Low fat diet

FSGS patients are easily to develop hyperlipidaemia which can cause dangerous illnesses like atherosis and coronary heart disease, so a low fat diet is needed to help them prevent hyperlipidaemia or prevent the worsening of this condition. A low fat diet usually needs them to stay far away from fatty foods, fried foods and nuts.

-Low-salt intake

Salt is high in sodium. For FSGS patients, high sodium intake not only trigger high blood pressure, aggravate swelling, but also increase kidney burden. Therefore, salted foods should be excluded from dining-table in daily diet.

-Limit fluid intake

For FSGS patients who have swelling, they also need to be careful about their fluid intake, so as to avoid aggravating swelling problem.
