Diet Recommended to Lower Creatinine 1.7 for FSGS Patients

Diet Recommended to Lower Creatinine 1.7 for FSGS PatientsRecently a FSGS patient ask for a good diet to lower creatinine. His creatinine level is 1.7 now. Creatinine 1.7 is a little higher than the normal level, which means there is severe kidney damage. Diet can help control creatinine level to certain extent. Now let’s have a look at diet recommended to lower creatinine 1.7 for FSGS patients.

Protein intake

Some creatinine is from the protein you consume, so you had better restrict the protein intake. This can improve azotemia and reduce the workload of kidneys. It can also reduce blood phosphorus level and reduce acidosis. Generally speaking, 0.6 g/kg protein per day can satisfy the need of body. When you choose protein, fish, lean meat, chicken and milk are preferred. Plant protein like peanut and bean products should be reduced as much as possible, because plant protein contains many non-essential amino acids, which can worsen proteinuria.

Calory intake

In order to reduce protein metabolism, you should consume enough carbohydrate to supply calory for your body. The recommended calory intake is about 125.6 J/kg per day. Rice, wheat, and corn are good source of carbohydrates. You can also eat moderate sweet potatoes, taro, potatoes, apple and lotus root.

High vitamin intake

Kidney patients often have vitamin deficiency. These vitamins can almost be found in fresh vegetables and fruits, such as tomatoes, oranges, hawthorn, cranberry, etc. Vitamins can boost immune system to help you fight against kidney disease. And they can also help your body absorb iron and calcium to prevent anemia and bone disease.

Water intake

If you do not have edema, you can drink moderate to increase urine output. And then creatinine can be passed out of body with urine.

The above information is very general. If you would like a personalized diet plan, you can contact online doctor. Besides diet, you should receive treatment aggressively. When your FSGS is under control, the diet restriction becomes less.
