What Are The Causes Of Swelling In FSGS

What Are The Causes Of Swelling In FSGSSwelling or edema is one of common symptoms in FSGS and generally speaking, eyelids, face, hands, abdomen and lower legs are attacked easily. If you or your relatives are a FSGS patient, you may be confused with what are the causes of swelling in FSGS on earth. Actually, this is not difficult to answer as long as you read this passage. Now, follow us.

There are several causes of swelling in FSGS summarized below:

1. Water and sodium retention

Normally, our kidneys are able to eliminate excessive water and sodium, thus keep a relatively stable environment for the body. However, when someone is diagnosed with FSGS, that is to say his or her kidney has been damaged seriously as well as kidney function has declined under the normal range. In this case, excessive water and sodium will build up and move to the tissue space which contributes to swelling in your body. What is worse, as we all know that for FSGS patients, they usually have a strict diet requirement but if you ingest much sodium without your doctor’s permission, in this way, your illness condition-swelling will become much worse.

2. Heavy loss of protein in urine

In normal cases, as a solute, protein is used to maintain the balance of osmotic pressure inside and outside of blood vessels. However, this can not be achieved for FSGS patients because their glomerular filtration membrane has been destroyed seriously. As long as protein leaks into urine, swelling will occur undoubtedly.

In addition to the two main causes mentioned above, medicines, malnutrition, allergic reaction and other kidney diseases may lead to swelling in FSGS as well. Since this symptom is so terrible that everybody want to get rid of it as early as possible. To be honest, as long as patient’s kidney function can work again, all the symptoms including edema will disappear in a short time.
