Swelling in FSGS

Swelling or edema is the obvious signs or symptoms of the FSGS patients. Many people with FSGS have no other symptoms but swelling or edema. Usually the swelling appear on the parts of the body, such as legs, feet, hands, face and so on. Before we alleviate the condition, first we must find out the cause of the disease condition. Swelling affects people’s life quality, in order to help them gain hope, here it is necessary to find out the disease root. What cause swelling for FSGS patients?

In most cases, swelling in FSGS patients is caused by two aspects: one is the water and sodium retention, the other is

1. water and sodium retention

Normally, healthy kidneys are able to help remove the waste water and blood of our body in order to keep a balance of water and sodium in our body. However, when the kidney is damaged seriously, the kidney can’t work properly. Then the kidneys can’t remove the waste from the body, leaving a lot of excess water and sodium accumulating in your body. After a long time, swelling will occur.

2. heavy loss of protein

Generally speaking, the protein in blood is solute, in order to maintain the balance of both the inside and outside of the blood vessels. When you have FSGS, lots of protein leaks into urine, as a result there will appear some changes in osmotic pressure in blood vessels. To keep the balance, fluid exudes into surrounding tissues which usually causes swelling or edema.

Above all, we know that both of them contribute to swelling of FSGS patients, we must take the effective treatment to control swelling to prevent the progression of FSGS developing into kidney failure. In order to keep fitness, changing your daily diet is necessary and significant. We need to choose some food with low-sodium and low-salt.
