FSGS and Proteinuria 4+: What Should I Do if Cyclosporine Does Not Show Any Improvement

Question: My daughter is diagnosed with FSGS. She is on cyclosporine. Her proteinuria is still at 4+. Until now it does not show any improvement. Any suggestions?

FSGS and Proteinuria 4+: What Should I Do if Cyclosporine Does Not Show Any Improvement Answer: FSGS is one of the most common causes of Nephrotic Syndrome, especially in children and adolescents. It is important to try to reduce the amount of protein escaping from the kidneys so as to slow down kidney damage. Cyclosporine is a potent immunosuppressant medication, which can block kidney inflammation to decrease the permeability of capillaries so as to reduce protein leakage. But most children with FSGS do not respond to any immunosuppressant therapy, because FSGS is associated with a steroid-resistant gene. As we can see that your daughter is also steroid-resistant. In such case, you should find another treatment for her to control her state of illness.

As FSGS is a chronic kidney disease, we had better use some natural treatment in the long run to reduce the side effects. In Shijiazhuang Kidney Disease Hospital, we widely apply Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatment into kidney disease treatment. In TCM, there are 4M treatment, including Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy, Medicated Bath, Mai Kang Composition and various medical soup. And there are also some adjunctive therapies, such as Circle Therapy, Enema Therapy, Steam Therapy, Acupuncture and Moxibustion, etc. Some of them can dilate blood vessels and remove stasis to increase blood flow into the kidneys so as to improve ischemia and anoxia and further kidney damage. Some can decompose the deposited the immune complexes in the kidneys to eliminate kidney inflammation. Some can supplement the essential elements to speed up kidney recovery. Some can detoxify the blood to set up a good blood environment for kidney self-healing. As long as your kidney regains their ability, proteinuria 4+ will gradually decline to normal range.

If cyclosporine does not show any improvement in proteinuria 4+ for FSGS patients, you can have a try on TCM treatment. For more information, please contact online doctor or leave a message below.
