Treatment for FSGS Patients with Food

Treatment for FSGS Patients with FoodFSGS is a very severe kidney disease that can cause the sclerosis of some glomeruli. To recover from FSGS, you should not only depend on medical treatment. Dietary treatment also plays an important role in slowing down the progression to kidney failure. Now let’s see the treatment for FSGS patients with food.

Low protein intake

If you have proteinuria or when your kidney function declines, you should limit the intake of protein. Because protein intake worsens proteinuria and increases urea level. But in order to satisfy the need of body, moderate high quality protein consumption is OK. Egg white, lean meat, milk, fish, and poultry without skin are all such kind of protein.

Low salt intake

FSGS patients are also often required to restrict the intake of salt when they have high blood pressure and edema. But it does not mean you should avoid salt intake. Salt free food may make you feel fatigue easily. Generally speaking, 3-5 g salt intake is recommended. Food high in salt should be avoided, such as pickles and canned food.

High vitamin intake

When you are sick, your body needs a lot of vitamins to maintain the normal function of body. For example, vitamin C helps boost immune system and improve anemia. In such case, you should supplement vitamins timely. Fresh vegetables and fruits are good source of vitamins. Therefore, you should add more into your diet.

Other diet requirements

FSGS patients should also pay attention to the intake of fat, fiber, water, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, iron, etc. Space limited, so we do not explain them one by one.

A personalized diet plan is made according to your medical and psychosocial history, physical examination, functional examination and dietary history. If you want to acquire one, please send the corresponding information to igacure@gmail.com. Our doctors will contact you in 48 hours.
