What Is the Treatment Besides Dialysis for FSGS Patients

What Is the Treatment Besides Dialysis for FSGS PatientsWhat is the treatment besides dialysis for FSGS patients? In most of the cases, FSGS progresses to kidney failure, even though patients regularly take medicines prescribed by their doctors. Usually, dialysis is suggested when their GFR decreases to be lower than 15, as timely dialysis can help to keep blood clean and thus protect other internal organs from being affected. However, due to the bad side effects and risk of dialysis, many patients refuse to do dialysis. Well, is there an alternative treatment for FSGS patients besides dialysis?

Blood pollution therapy is an alternative treatment for FSGS patients whose illness has developed to kidney failure stage. This treatment is divided into three steps while treating failed kidney caused by FSGS:

1. Purification of blood with combined methods

Kidney is the organ that helps us filter blood, so when it shurt down, toxins will build up in the blood. These harmful substances not only cause further damages on kidney, but also affect other internal organs, so cleaning blood is very important. In blood pollution therapy, various blood purification technologies like plasma exchance, hemoperfusion and immune adsorption are applied to achive the goal.

2. Supply nutrition to the body

In normal cases, blood flow through every part of our body and during this process, it can supply our body with necessary nutrition. When blood is polluted due to kidney failure caused by FSGS, it can not supply our body with necessary element, we need to add necessary nutrition to the blood according to lab tests.

3. Rebuild of kidney function

Just like cells in our hand, kidney intrinsic cells also have self-curative ability, so by keeping blood clean and adding nutrition to blood, some injured kidney intrinsic cells can recover gradually. This is a long process, so patients must be patient and insist on taking this treatment.

Lastly, blood pollution is an alternative treatment for FSGS patients who do not want to do dialysis, but it is only effective for people who still have a certain kidney function. For these whose kidneys have shut down completely, dialysis or kidney transplant are the last two choice.
