Dialysis is a common used treatment for renal patients to cleanse the blood and maintain their life. It is not helpful for you to preserve the remaining kidney function if you start dialysis too early. If you put off dialysis, the massive waste products in the blood will impair all body systems to threaten your life. When does dialysis become necessary for FSGS patients? After reading this article, you will have a clear mind.
Generally speaking, when you have the following conditions, you should start dialysis.
-Serum creatinine is more than 707 umol/L or 6-7 mg/dL.
-Blood urea nitrogen is about 30 mmol/L.
-Blood potassium level is more than 6.5 mmol/L.
In some cases, you should start dialysis even though you do not have the above conditions.
-You have severe complications, such as nausea, vomiting, swelling.
-You have metabolic acidosis, hyperparathyroidism, kidney failure and some other complications.
In some cases, even though your serum creatinine and BUN are both very high, dialysis is not a necessity if you do not have any obvious symptoms and complication of uremia. But you should take medical treatment to maintain the normal function of your body.
When your blood potassium is more than 6.5 mmol/L, if you can lower it with proper treatment, it is unnecessary for you to start dialysis as well.
When does dialysis become necessary for FSGS patients? There is not a standard that is suitable for all patients. And dialysis is not the only way for FSGS patients with kidney failure. If you still have urine output, it is possible to repair the damaged kidneys to certain extent and improve kidney function so as to avoid dialysis.
