Will IgA Nephropathy Be Passed Onto Children

Will IgA Nephropathy Be Passed Onto ChildrenWill IgA Nephropathy be passed onto children? This is a problem that all the young IgA Nephropathy patients have to face. It is really a good news for young couple to raise a healthy child together. However, for some people, they are not allowed or suggested to be pregnant due to the genetic illness. well, for IgA Nephropathy patients, will this illness be passed onto their children?

According to clinical statistics, IgA Nephropathy is not hereditary in most of the cases, which means the majority of patients get IgA Nephropathy due to their own immune deficiency. On the basis of recent studies, more than 90 percent of the IgA Nephropathy sufferers are sporadic. And the rest 10 precent of IgA Nephropathy is familial, which means there are other IgA Nephropathy carriers aside from them.

IgA Nephropathy is a worldwide illness, and the family clustering of IgA Nephropathy is especially common in Kentucky, Southern France and Italy, which means IgA Nephropathy patients in these areas run a higher risk to pass their illness to their children.

IgA Nephropathy can be primary or secondary. Among patients with IgA Nephropathy, 37 percent to 75 percent of them are detected to have excess IgA immune complexes in the blood and more than a half of them to be diagnosed with high levels of IgA in the blood. In primary IgA Nephropathy cases, patients are affected by this illness mainly due to immune disorder. And for these with secondary IgA Nephropathy, there are different causes like HIV infection, tumor, liver disease and anaphylactic purpura nephritis and so on. Treatment for IgA Nephropathy should be based on the exact causes and severity of illness. Otherwise, it relapses easily.

Lastly, though there is familial IgA Nephropathy, in more than 90 percent of the cases, it is not hereditary, so most of the IgA Nephropathy will not pass on their illness to their children. Even though, they need to be very careful about making the decision whether they will give birth to a child, because improper pregnancy will worsen kidney condition and threaten their life severely.
