What Does It Mean with IgA 4.5

What Does It Mean with IgA 4.5IgA is a common antibody in the body, which is made by the immune system to fight bacteria, virus, and toxins. An IgA test can help doctor diagnose problems with the immune system, intestines and kidneys. What does it mean with IgA 4.5?

How does IgA Nephropathy occur?

When antigen like bacteria and virus invade into the body, your immune system begins to produce a lot of IgA and some other antibodies to fight against these antigens. As a result, IgA levels increase. But sometimes increased IgA means there is something wrong with your immune system and kidney damage. During the process of fighting with antigens, massive immune complexes could be produced and come into the bloodstream. With blood circulation, they flow into kidneys and may deposit in mesangial area. In order to remove these immune complexes, there is inflammatory reaction in the kidneys. Though short-term inflammation is beneficial, it can become a major problem when it is long-term, because it can cause damage to the kidney, resulting in IgA Nephropathy.

How to diagnose IgA Nephropathy?

When you get IgA Nephropathy, your serum IgA>3.15 g/L. Now your IgA level is 4.5, so you had better attach importance to the following aspects.

-Changes in urine. You may have gross hematuria or microscopic hematuria sometimes with foamy urine.

-Your IgM level may also increases.

-IgA/C3 > 3

-Sometimes high blood pressure occurs.

-The ratio of serum CD4/CD8 increases.

If you have the above changes with IgA 4.5, it is likely that you have IgA Nephropathy and you should take measures as early as possible. The earlier you seek treatment, the less your kidneys impair and the more possibility you have to recover from IgA Nephropathy. In our hospital, we develop Immunotherapy to regulate the abnormal immune system and reduce the kidney damage.
