Is IgA Nephropathy Often Misdiagnosed

Is IgA Nephropathy Often MisdiagnosedIgA Nephropathy is the most common glomerulonephritis in the world. Its typical symptoms include blood urine, swelling around eyelids, back pain and so on. Is IgA Nephropathy often misdiagnosed?

In clinic, IgA Nephropathy is very complex and its symptoms are not easy to be found. Besides, its symptoms are similar to other diseases, such as streptococcal acute glomerulonephritis, non-IgA mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis, allergic purpura nephritis. That is why it is often misdiagnosed with some other diseases.

How to ensure whether you get IgA Nephropathy or not?

Conventional diagnosis for IgA Nephropathy is to do renal biopsy. But biopsy is an invasive test, which may add insult to injury so as to speed up kidney failure. And the acquired tissues are very limited, which can not reflect the whole truth of your kidney conditions. In our hospital, we often use urinary protein component test, urine renal tubule epithelial cell test and some other tests to help doctor to have a clear mind of your kidney conditions. And then you can avoid renal biopsy.

How to treat IgA Nephropathy?

If you are diagnosed with IgA Nephropathy, do not worry too much. With proper treatment, we can stop its progression to kidney failure. Conventional treatment for IgA Nephropathy is to use steroids and other immunosuppressants to inhibit kidney inflammation and some other medications to control symptoms, but that is not enough. In our hospital, we use Immunotherapy for IgA Nephropathy. This therapy can cleanse cycling immune complexes and inflammatory chemicals from the blood to reduce kidney inflammation. It can also increase the kidneys’ tolerance to immune complexes so that even if there are immune complexes in the blood, they do not cause kidney inflammation. Besides, it can block abnormal immune reaction to reduce the production of immune complexes. After a period of treatment, your IgA Nephropathy can be under control.
