Why Do IgA Nephrotic Patients Limit Water Intake After Dialysis

Why Do IgA Nephrotic Patients Limit Water Intake After DialysisIn clinic, as a common treatment, dialysis is often used especially for kidney (renal) failure patients. For serious IgA nephrotic patients who just have performed dialysis, they may be required to limit water intake by their doctors. In view of this, why do IgA nephrotic patients limit water intake after dialysis? The following passage may tell some useful informations.

Here we may divide this question into three situations which depend on the amount of urine after dialysis.

1. For IgA nephrotic patients who have less urine or even no urine after dialysis, one of the reason is that due to the reduced kidney function, the level of blood pressure should depend on the amount of water intake and limiting the water intake may plays a helpful role in the blood pressure control. In addition, much water may burden kidneys which resulting in kidney failure easily than before. Finally, if IgA nephrotic patients take a lot of water in a short time and at the same time, same amount of water will be eliminated and as a result, low blood pressure occurs, which is life-threatening or even make dialysis more serious and difficult.

2. For IgA nephrotic patients who have no urine completely, if they really want to drink water, they are recommended that their dry weight among the space of dialysis is less than 5% compared with the primary dry weight after drinking, of course, 3% is better.

3. For IgA nephrotic patients who have normal urine output or even more after dialysis, why they also should limit the water intake is because they should keep the balance of water input and water output and besides, protect the residual kidney function furthest.

Finally, please remember that urine stands for hopes and we will always be here providing you more information about treatments for kidney failure and IgA nephrotic.
