Diet Chart for IgA Nephropathy PatientsIt is widely acknowledged that diet is an important part of life. We should also know that diet can help slow down the progression to kidney failure. Therefore, IgA Nephropathy patients should pay attention to their diet. In the following, there is a diet chart for IgA Nephropathy patients. Hope it can help you live more happily and healthily.

Protein intake

Protein is an essential part of body building. When you have IgA Nephropathy, you should limit the intake of protein especially when your blood urea is high. According to your kidney function, there are different protein requirements for your body. Too much or too little intake of protein are both bad for your health. Too much protein intake produces much metabolite, which can increase the burden on the kidneys so as to speed up the deterioration of kidney function, while too little protein intake can not satisfy the need of your body, which can decrease your immune system and some other mechanism.

Sodium intake

If you have edema or high blood pressure, you should control the intake of sodium. Because sodium can retain water in the body as so to worsen edema or high blood pressure. How much sodium you can take should also depend on your kidney function. Food, such as cheese, pickle, and snacks are all good sources of sodium, so you had better restrict their intake.

Vitamin intake

Vitamins also play an important role in maintaining the health of body. They can prevent the free radical from damaging the tissues and boost immune system so as to help you fight against various disease, such as infection and cold. Fresh vegetables and fruits such as bell pepper, cranberries and guava are packed with rich vitamins.
