Cold Limbs with IgA Nephropathy: What Is Wrong

Question: My son has IgA Nephropathy. His fingers are cold occasionally and he wears two pairs of socks. I am feeling like his doctor isn’t really take this seriously. What is wrong with him?

Cold Limbs with IgA Nephropathy: What Is WrongAnswer: IgA Nephropathy is a kind of primary glomerular nephritis characterized by deposition of IgA or IgA antibodies in glomerular mesangial areas. The deposition can cause inflammatory reaction, leading to injury of glomerular mesangial cells. As a result, they can not work properly.

Cold limbs may be associated with anemia.

From what you described, I think your son’s cold limbs are associated with anemia. Anemia often occurs when kidney function declines. And with the development of kidney disease, anemia will become worse and worse. The reason why kidney disease can cause anemia is that the damaged kidneys can not secrete enough erythropoietin to stimulate bone marrows to produce red blood cells. Besides, the accumulated waste in the blood can shorten the lifespan of red blood cells. Both can cause the decline in the numbers of red blood cells. Because there is not enough blood to flow to the limbs, the patients usually feel cold.

How to improve cold limbs with IgA Nephropathy?

To take erythropoietin and iron supplement is helpful for you to control anemia. There are also many other therapies to improve blood circulation so as to alleviate cold limbs, such as steam therapy, medicated foot bath and full bath.

If you combine these therapies with Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy, Mai Kang and decoction, the damaged kidneys can gradually regain their ability. Because they can combine with immune complexes, split them and remove them from the blood so as to relieve kidney inflammation. They can also improve blood circulation by dilating blood vessels, speeding up blood circulation and removing stasis. Moreover, long-term treatment with these therapies can regulate the abnormal immune system and prevent kidney damage.

IgA Nephropathy can also cause many other symptoms, such as proteinuria, blood urine, edema, etc. Early treatment can protect kidney function and help you live very well.
