What Does the Colorless Urine Mean for IgA Nephropathy Patients

Question: Hi, my husband has IgA Nephropathy since four years ago and he uses cellcept pills every day. Now the amount of the urinal protein is around 1800mg. it's been 4 days that his urine is merely colorless. what's the colorless urine sign for? Is it dangerous?

What Does the Colorless Urine Mean for IgA Nephropathy PatientsAnswer: IgA Nephropathy is the most common form of glomerulonephritis in the world. Cellcept (mycophenolate mofetil) is a medicine that is often used by IgA Nephropathy patients to block kidney inflammation to prevent further kidney damage and reduce protein leakage. From what you said, it seems that cellcept is not effective enough for your husband to reduce protein leakage, because there is still a lot of protein in his protein.

Colorless urine in IgA Nephropathy

Urine is to remove the extra water and water-soluble wastes the kidneys filter from the blood. Under normal circumstance, urine is present yellow color due to the existence of urochrome. And it usually varies from pale yellow to deep amber, depending on the concentration of the urine. Now it becomes colorless, which may indicate that his kidneys can not remove the waste products from the body. Those accumulated waste products can not only cause further damage to his kidneys, but also affect his whole body so as to threaten his life. In such a case, he should attach importance to it and take treatment as early as possible. In some other cases, urine can become colorless as well, for example, drinking excessive water or use diuretics to flush out the excess fluid from body. If so, there is no need to worry about it.

Treatment for IgA Nephropathy

Protein leakage and colorless urine are just several symptoms of IgA Nephropathy. If you control it better, you should choose a correct treatment. IgA Nephropathy is caused by IgA immune complexes depositing in the kidneys. Immunotherapy is a combination of western medicine and Chinese medicine. It can cleanse the cycling immune complexes and inflammatory chemicals from the blood to reduce kidney inflammation. It can also increase the kidneys’ tolerance to immune complexes so that even if there are immune complexes, they do not cause kidney inflammation. Besides, it can strengthen your innate immune system to reduce the production of immune complexes. After a period of treatment, kidney function can be improved and its associated symptoms will disappear.
