What to Reduce Urea in Blood for IgA Nephropathy Patients

What to Reduce Urea in Blood for IgA Nephropathy PatientsUrea is a waste product of the digestion of protein. Normal human adult blood should contain between 7 to 20 mg urea. When IgA Nephropathy (Berger’s Disease) impairs your kidney function severely, urea level increases. What to reduce urea in blood for IgA Nephropathy patients?

-Limit the intake of protein

Since protein is the main source of urea, you should limit the intake of protein when blood urea level is high. But our body needs protein to maintain its normal function. Therefore, we can not avoid protein intake. To satisfy the need of body, we should eat moderate protein. High quality protein contains more amino acids, which can be absorbed by body so as to reduce the production of urea, so it is preferred. Egg white, lean meat, fish, milk, poultry without skin and so on are good choice for you.

-Drink plenty of water

If you do not have swelling, drinking plenty of water is helpful. Urea is passed out of the body with urine. When you drink a lot of water, urine output will increase. And then urea can also be discharged out as well.

-Drink some herbal tea

Some herbal tea is diuretic, which can help flush out the waste products and excessive fluid, for example, nettle leaf tea, dandelion tea, corn silk tea, etc.

-Improve kidney function

The root cause why your urea level increases is that your kidneys are damaged, so to lower urea level, you should repair the damaged kidneys and improve kidney function. Immunotherapy is a combination of western medicine and Chinese medicine. It can cleanse the immune complexes and inflammatory chemicals from the blood to reduce kidney inflammation. It can also increase the kidneys’ tolerance to immune complexes and block abnormal immune reaction to prevent further kidney damage. Besides, it can strengthen your immune system to help you fight against the disease.
