Will IgA Nephropathy Come Back after Kidney Transplant

Will IgA Nephropathy Come Back after Kidney TransplantWill IgA Nephropathy come back after kidney transplant? When kidney failure is caused by IgA Nephropathy, dialysis and kidney transplant will be the last two choice in many patients’ heart. For dialysis, it is torturous; what is worse, once patients start dialysis, they need to do it the rest of their life. Therefore, kidney transplant becomes the best method for patients to get off dialysis and live a better life again. However, some people say IgA Nephropathy comes back easily after kidney transplant. Is this true or not?

Will IgA Nephropathy come back after kidney transplant?

As for the question: Will IgA Nephropathy come back after kidney transplant. The answer is yes. According to medical studies, about a half of patients are affected again by IgA Nephropathy within 10 years after kidney transplant and possibly 100% of them by 10 to 20 years.

Kidney transplant is a treatment, not a cure for IgA Nephropathy

Kidney transplant is a medical procedure in which a healthy kidney from the donor is put into patient’s body to replace failed kidney work. IgA Nephropathy is a kidney problem associated with immune deficiency. A transplanted kidney can help to have a normal life, but if immune problem is not solved, this healthy kidney will be affected sooner or later. Therefore, kidney transplant does not go away simply because you got a kidney transplant. Also, this explains why IgA Nephropathy comes back again after kidney transplant.

Even though there is high risk for patients to get IgA Nephropathy again after surgery, many patients are still suggested to do kidney transplant by their doctors and this is because there is no cure for this kind of kidney problem. However, one thing we must be clear is that IgA Nephropathy can be controlled well through systematic treatment- Immunotherapy. This treatment is a combination of Chinese medicine and western medicine which are used to achieve different treatment goals. We know Chinese medicine and western medicine see kidney disease differently and by combining them, treatment effects can be more obviously. Another thing we need to clarify is that IgA Nephropathy can not be cured with this treatment, but patients’ life span and life expectancy can be improved greatly. Besides, compared with kidney transplant, it is preferable.
