Will IgA Nephropathy Lead to Renal Failure

Will IgA Nephropathy Lead to Renal FailureWill IgA Nephropathy lead to renal failure? IgA Nephropathy is also called Berger’s Disease in which kidney tissues are injured due to deposition in mesangial area like IgA antibody and C3. Renal failure refers is also called kidney failure which usually appears as the final result of chronic kidney problem and acute kidney problem. Therefore, IgA Nephropathy can lead to renal failure.

How does IgA Nephropathy cause renal failure?

A kidney contains about one million nephron which is composed of glomerulus, renal capsule and renal tubule. In IgA Nephropathy, IgA antibody and other substances like C3 lodge in mesangial area, leading to inflammatory response which damage surrounding kidney tissues directly. Kidney works through a group of kidney intrinsic cells, so when some kidney tissues are damaged and can not work again, kidney function declines. Renal failure is caused when kidney function declines to a certain level due to IgA Nephropathy.

How to prevent renal failure with IgA Nephropathy?

IgA is an antibody of our body and should help us fight against harmful substance. However, in IgA Nephropathy, due to immune deficiency, large amounts of IgA deposite in kidney and thus cause kidney damages. Under such a condition, to stop illness progression and prevent renal failure, the following several measures are needed:

1. Correct immune deficiency and improve immunity

Sine immune deficiency is the real reason for IgA to lodge in kidney, correcting and strengthening immune system is the key to prevent further deposition of IgA.

2. Remove IgA deposition away from kidney

Due to IgA deposition, inflammatory response appears and cause damage on surrounding kidney tissues. Many medicines can help to restrain inflammation, but they can not remove deposition, so when patieints stop taking medicine or reduce medicine dose, illness relapses and progresses. This is the reason why IgA Nephropathy finally develops to renal failure in many cases.

3. Tight control of symptoms like high blood pressure, hematuria and proteinuria.

Symptoms like high blood pressure, hematuria and proteinuria all can cause further worsening of illness, so tight control of these symptoms is very helpful for preventing renal failure.

4. A well-planed diet

Diet is an important part of treatment for IgA Nephropathy. Though illness can not be cured by making diet changes, if not arrange diet well, illness condition will be worsened.
