IgA Nephropathy, 40% Kidney Function, Ways to Avoid Dialysis

Question: I just got off the phone with my 77 years old dad who is an IgA Nephropathy carrier. He told me his doctors ordered labs and his kidney function is only at 40%, so I am wondering what we can do to help him increase his kidney function to hopefully not have to do dialysis.

IgA Nephropathy, 40% Kidney Function, Ways to Avoid DialysisAnswer: Hi, glad to receive your email and and thanks for emailing us. You said your dad is an IgA Nephropathy patient and his kidney function is at 40%. As for his kidney condition, I’d like to say this is a critical moment for your father. I say so because if his kidney can be treated rightly and effectively, it is quite possible for him to avoid dialysis. However, if he just control his symptoms like proteinuria and hematuria, his illness will run to kidney failure stage quickly. At that time, dialysis or kidney transplant will be needed to sustain life. You asked what can we do to help him increase kidney function and avoid dialysis, and the following is the answer for you.

In the case of your father, to get his kidney function improved successfully, the following several measures are needed:

1. Tight control of all the symptoms like high blood pressure and proteinuria, which is very helpful for preventing further kidney damages and slowing down the progression of IgA Nephropathy.

2. Repairing of kidney damages in IgA Nephropathy: Micro-Chinese Medicine is the treatment that is recommended for your dad to repair kidney damages and improve kidney function.

3. Scientific diet plan: Please help your dad arrange a scientific diet. Diet changes are usually made according to current kidney condition. For an instance, if he is suffering from elevation of potassium and increase of calcium, please arrange more high calcium foods into his diet and meanwhile exclude high potassium foods from his dinner table. (Send test report to igacure@gmail.com to get personalized diet plan)

By doing according to the above guidance, I am sure your dad will receive obvious effects in improving kidney function. Dialysis is needed when IgA Nephropathy develops to kidney failure stage in which residual kidney function is not strong enough to maintain the life. Therefore, when his kidney function is improved to be more than 40%, he gets farther from dialysis.
