What does high creatinine level mean?

In cases of IgA Nephropathy, creatinine level in blood increases due to impairment of kidney function, so elevation of creatinine level always indicates decline of kidney function and also the poorer the kidney function, the higher the serum creatinine level.

Besides, creatinine is just one of the toxins that need to be excreted through kidney. It belongs to small molecular substance and when kidneys fail to excrete it, other toxins build up in the blood as well. Therefore, high creatinine level always indicate high levels of toxins in the blood.

Why IgA Nephropathy patients need to lower down high creatinine level?

Too much toxins in the blood will damage internal organs and cause much more health tissues. Therefore, when creatinine level increases to a very high level, dialysis is required to purify blood. For most of the IgA Nephropathy patients, they do everything to lower down high creatinine level because they are afraid of doing dialysis. Dialysis is helpful, but long-term dialysis will cause many side effects like headache, muscle cramp, fatigue, vomiting and even restless leg syndrome. Also, with the duration of dialysis, patients’ survival reate decreases as well. Therefore, it is necessary for IgA Nephropathy patients to lower down high creatinine level, so as to avoid or delay dialysis successfully.

What happens if creatinine level in blood keeps being high?

High creatinine level means there are lots of toxins in the blood. If these toxic substances can not be removed effectively, they will circulate with blood and damage other internal organs and body systems like blood system, heart, bone and gastrointestinal tract and so on. This is the reason why IgA Nephropathy patients always experience a various symptoms like nausea, vomiting, skin itching, bone pain, bone fracture and stroke when their illness develops to advanced stage.
