Question: I have IgA Nephropathy. Currently I am on steroids, methylprednisolone 64mg a day. Is it not contradicting if I get your Immunotherapy?
Answer: IgA Nephropathy is the most common form of glomerulonephritis in the world. Steroids such as methylprednisolone are often used to inhibit kidney inflammation so as to prevent further kidney damage. They can also help you reduce protein leakage. But long-term use of them have many side effects, such as weight gain, moon face, headache, bone disease, etc. Besides, they can weaken your immune system so as to expose you to various aliments, such as infections. Frequent infections can also worsen your kidney disease. In order to make up the shortcomings of steroids, our hospital develops Immunotherapy. Immunotherapy is a combination of western medicine and Chinese medicine. In the beginning course of treatment, you can still use those medications. With the progression of treatment, you can gradually reduce the use of steroids and at last you can stop their use.
Immunotherapy is classified into six aspects, namely immune diagnosis, immune clearance, immune tolerance, immune blockage, immune regulation and immune protection. After a careful examination, we can use some therapies, such as immune absorption to cleanse the cycling IgA immune complexes from the blood to reduce their deposition on kidneys. Immunotherapy can also block abnormal immune reaction in the kidneys to prevent further damage and it can increase the kidneys’ tolerance to immune complexes so that even if there are immune complexes they do not cause kidney inflammation. Besides, it can regulate and strengthen your immune system to help you fight against the disease. After a period of treatment, your kidney function will be promoted to certain extent.
Steroid treatment does not contradict Immunotherapy, so you can use this therapy safely. For more information about IgA Nephropathy, please leave a message below or send emails to igacure@gmail.com.
