What Precautions Should Nephrotic Syndrome Patients Take Before Starting Prednisolone

Question: My mother is aged 54 years old. She has under gone kidney biopsy and has been diagnosed with Minimal Change Disease as she complaint of proteinuria about 4+. Now the doctor prescribed her omnacortil 60 mg, as it is a steroid, I want to know what precautions she has to take before starting the medicine as some people have complaints rashes after taking it, so we are scared. Please advise. Thanks.

What Precautions Should Nephrotic Syndrome Patients Take Before Starting PrednisoloneAnswer: Minimal Change Disease (MCD) is a disease of the kidney that causes Nephrotic Syndrome. From what you said, we can see that your mother suffers from severe proteinuria. Proteinuria should be controlled as early as possible, or it will cause swelling, trace elements deficiency, poor immunity, glomerulosclerosis, etc.

Omnacortil is also known as prednisolone. It is a steroid used by patients as a treatment to block kidney inflammation and decrease the permeability of capillaries so as to reduce protein leakage. But as you referred, it may cause rashes. And it may also cause many other side effects, such as aggression, blurred vision, headache, mood changes, increased appetite, etc. Besides, it suppresses the immune system, leaving patients more susceptible to infections.

Though prednisolone has so many disadvantages, it can not halt you from avoiding it. After all, it can help patients eliminate symptoms quickly. In order to reduce the side effects, you can use some other natural treatment with those western medicine. After years of research and clinical practice, we find that the combination of western medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine can make up respective shortcomings and achieve a better curative effect. They can not only help you control the symptoms, but also help you make a good blood environment for kidney self-healing. After a period of treatment, Nephrotic Syndrome can be brought under control.

In addition, when patients feel better, do not stop the medicine or reduce its dosage without the instruction of doctor, in case that it causes relapse of Nephrotic Syndrome.

Minimal Change Disease is not a very severe kidney disease. With proper treatment, it is likely for patients to recover their kidney function and lead a normal life. If you are interested in our treatment, please feel free to contact online doctor or leave a message below.
