Puffy Eyes with Nephrotic Syndrome: What Is the Treatment

Puffy Eyes with Nephrotic Syndrome: What Is the TreatmentYou may often see swelling around the Nephrotic Syndrome patients’s eyes, in the belly or in the legs. What is the treatment for puffy eyes with Nephrotic Syndrome? Now let’s have a quick look.

What causes puffy eyes for Nephrotic Syndrome patients?

Nephrotic Syndrome is usually caused by damage to the glomeruli. Glomeruli are responsible for filtering waste and excess water from your blood, while retaining cells and proteins the body needs. When glomeruli are damaged, protein from the blood can leak into the urine. For Nephrotic Syndrome patients, they often have more than 3.5 g protein per day. This can lead to the decline of plasma colloid osmotic pressure. As a result, fluid flows into the tissue and swelling occurs. Because the tissues around eyes are loose, puffy eyes easily comes into being. Besides, the impaired kidney function also retain water in the body, resulting in edema.

Treatment for puffy eyes

-To treat puffy eyes, you should reduce protein leakage. Steroids are the common used drugs to inhibit kidney inflammation and decrease the permeability of capillaries so as to control proteinuria. Besides, you should reduce the intake of protein.

-The fundamental way is to improve kidney function. In our hospital, there are many TCM therapies, such as Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy, Foot Bath, Mai Kang and decoction. They can dilate blood vessels, improve blood circulation and remove immune complexes from the blood to reduce inflammation. They can also degrade extracellular matrix to prevent kidney fibrosis. After comprehensive treatment, the damaged glomeruli can gradually repair themselves and then proteinuria disappears.

Puffy eyes is an early symptom of kidney disease, so you should pay much attention to prevent the disease from worsening. For more information, please leave a message or send emails to igacure@gmail.com.
