How Does Nephrotic Syndrome Cause High Levels of BUN and Creatini

How Does Nephrotic Syndrome Cause High Levels of BUN and CreatinineFor patients with Nephrotic Syndrome, they can have high levels of BUN and creatinine. Nephrotic Syndrome is a kind of kidney disease which is featured with much proteinuria, hypoproteinemia, serious edema and hyperlipemia. The fundamental cause of Nephrotic Syndrome is glomeruli damage. However, Bun and creatinine are some wastes in body. So how does Nephrotic Syndrome make these two wastes increase? Please see the below:

How does Nephrotic Syndrome cause high level of BUN?

When people have intake of protein, protein will be decomposed, producing BUN. BUN is a kind of wastes in body, which is usually excreted through urine. In normal situations, BUN level ranges from 6 to 20mg/dL.. However, for patients with Nephrotic Syndrome, BUN level is more than 20mg/dL. Why does this happen? As glomeruli is impaired, the filtration of kidney decreases. Consequently, many wastes can’t be removed out of body including BUN, leading to high BUN level.

How does Nephrotic Syndrome cause high creatinine level?

Creatinine describes the substance produced when energy is transported to muscles. And creatinine is also a waste, which is removed out of body by kidney. For healthy people, creatinine level differs from 0.5 to 1.3mg/dL. But for patients with Nephrotic Syndrome, creatinine level exceeds the normal range. In the same way, due to decline of kidney function, creatinine can’t be excreted, leading to high creatinine level.

What should patients with Nephrotic Syndrome do to alleviate this sign?

Patients with Nephrotic Syndrome should pay attention to both treatment and diet in daily life.

1. Patients with Nephrotic Syndrome should limit intake of protein and eat more high quality protein such as lean milk and milk. Moreover, they should eat a low salt diet, which helps lower high blood pressure. As swelling always occurs on patients with Nephrotic Syndrome, they should also limit water intake. In this way, patients with Nephrotic Syndrome can reduce burdens of kidney, lowering levels of BUN and creatinine.

2. The fundamental cause of high levels of BUN and creatinine is Nephrotic Syndrome. Thus, it is very important that patients should treat Nephrotic Syndrome effectively. Chinese medicines have very good properties of recovering kidney function and repairing kidney damage, which can be a good choice for patients with Nephrotic Syndrome.

High levels of BUN and creatinine indicate that kidney function decreases seriously. If patients with Nephrotic Syndrome get very high levels of BUN and creatinine, effective and timely treatment is needed.
