Symptoms of Nephrotic Syndrome Affects Children Enormously

So patients should pay attention to the abnormal behaviors of kids. If the early symptoms are ignored, the following treatment will be more difficult.

Early symptoms include loss of appetite, a general feeling of malaise, puffy eyelids and tissue swelling due to excess sodium and water retention, abdominal pain and frothy urine. The abdomen may be swollen because of a large accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity. Fluid accumulates in the space surrounding the lungs which could develop shortness of breath.

Otherwise, patients with Nephrotic Syndrome usually suffer from edema. During the night, fluid appears in the upper parts of the body, such as the eyelids. In the day, the sitting or standing will push the fluid accumulating in the lower parts of the body, like the swelling in the ankles.

High blood pressure is another indicator of Nephrotic Syndrome. The blood pressure level is generally low in children but changes when children stand up. We call it orthostatic hypotension.

Urine production may decrease. If the leakage of fluid from blood vessels into tissues which deplete the liquid component of blood and blood supply to the kidneys, Nephrotic Syndrome will develop into kidney failure.

Nutritional deficiencies happen because nutrients are excreted in the urine. Children may be stunted. The loss of calcium may affect the growth of bones leading to osteoporosis. Nails may become brittle and the some hair may fall out.

Symptoms of Nephrotic Syndrome affect children enormously. The early discovery may help children overcome the disease easily in order to avoid the suffering from kidney failure and loss of money.
