What Are the Complications of Nephrotic Syndrome

What Are the Complications of Nephrotic SyndromeNephrotic Syndrome usually occurs when you have massive proteinuria. It does not only cause further damage to the kidneys, leading to foamy urine, swelling and some other symptoms, but also has many complications. What are the complications of Nephrotic Syndrome. Now let’s have a quick look.

Steroid and immunosuppressants are the common used drugs for Nephrotic Syndrome patients to inhibit kidney inflammation and make up the holes in the kidneys so as to reduce the leakage of protein. But those medications can also lower immune system so that bacteria and virus can easily invade into your body, leading to infections.

However, it is unnecessary for you to use antibiotics to prevent infections when you receive steroid treatment, because antibiotics may cause double infection. Once you have infection, you could choose those antibiotics without renal toxicity as quickly as possible to stop it triggering the relapse.

As we all know, people with Nephrotic Syndrome have massive proteinuria. Because protein leaks into the urine, the amount of protein in plasma reduces. In such case, liver increases its synthesis of lipoprotein to make up the lost protein. Lipoprotein and other waste products slow down blood flow. And then substances in the blood easily deposit in blood vessels, leading to thrombus.

When you have hypercoagulable state, you should take some anticoagulation like heparin with antiplatelet drugs like dipyridamole to block blood clotting. If you have thrombus now, you should use urokinase or streptokinase with anticoagulation medications as early as possible to improve blood circulation.

Acute renal failure

Acute renal failure associated with Nephrotic Syndrome may threaten your life without effective treatment. But almost all Nephrotic Syndrome patients can recover with appropriate treatment. Its treatment usually depends on your medical conditions.

If you have Nephrotic Syndrome, you should take treatment as early as possible to reduce those complications. In Shijiazhuang Kidney Disease Hospital, there are many therapies to help you, such as Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy, Medicated Bath, Mai Kang Mixture and decoction.
