Why Some Patients Have Chills with Nephrotic Syndrome

Why Some Patients Have Chills with Nephrotic SyndromeNephrotic Syndrome is a collection of symptoms, including massive proteinuria, heavy swelling, hyperlipemia and hypoproteinemia. Chill is also often found among some people with Nephrotic Syndrome. Why some patients have chills with Nephrotic Syndrome? Now let’s have a quick look.

Anemia is a common complication of kidney disease. And the more severe your kidney disease is, the worse your anemia, because the damaged kidneys can not secrete enough erythropoietin to make red blood cells. Besides, the accumulated waste products shorten the lifespan of red blood cells which deteriorate anemia further. A common symptom of this condition is chills.

Nephrotic Syndrome patients are often required to limit the intake of protein to reduce proteinuria and control the intake of fat to lower cholesterol level. Protein and fat restriction does not mean you should avoid them. Improper diet restriction may make you have malnutrition, leading to chills, fatigue, dizziness, weight loss and some other symptoms. Because protein and fat are the main source of energy in your body. If you can not supplement enough carbohydrate to provide energy, it is likely for you to suffer from chills as well.

Because of poor immune system, Nephrotic Syndrome patients get infections frequently. Infections can cause fever, sore throat and some other symptoms. When you have chills, you had better check your body temperature, for fever is a common contributor to chills.

In addition, prescription drugs, bladder infection, hypothyroidism, hypoglycemia and so on can also make you have chills.
