Why Does Nephrotic Syndrome Relapse Easily and How to Stop It

Patient: I have a daughter 4 years old who has a Nephrotic Syndrome diagnosed last March 2014. Though she is done with the tapering of prednisone, I’ve noticed 3 days ago that her upper and lower eyelid is swelling again. Then I came to her doctor and take the urinalysis for my daughter found out that she has again a protein in urine (plus 3 sign). She is now taking again prednisone, what will I do to stop the relapse of my daughter’s NS?

Why Does Nephrotic Syndrome Relapse Easily and How to Stop ItDoctor: Sorry to hear your lovely daughter is suffering now. Nephrotic Syndrome relapses easily mainly due to the following several factors:

-Hereditary factor

According to clinical studies, Nephrotic Syndrome patients with HLA (Human Leucocyte Antigen) are more likely to suffer from illness relapse.

-Long-term usage of prednisone

Prednisone is commonly used to treat Nephrotic Syndrome, as it can bring all the symptoms like proteinuria, swelling, hypoproteinemia and hyperlipidaemia under control, but long-term usage of it will result in adrenocortical atrophy. In such a case, Nephrotic Syndrome relapses easily when medicine dose is reduced. Besides, long-term application of prednisone also causes many side effects like weight gain, moonface, oppression in chest, depression and even developmental retardation. Therefore, Nephrotic Syndrome patients, especially children, should avoid relying on prednisone.

-Nonstandard application of medicines

Nephrotic Syndrome presents as proteinuria, swelling, low protein level in blood and high blood lipid. In some cases, when these abnormalities or symptoms are brought under controlled, patients reduce medicine dose or stop taking medicines without doctor’s permission. Under such a condition, Nephrotic Syndrome also relapses easily.

Nephrotic Syndrome is a kidney disorder and all the symptoms are resulted from impaired kidney function as well as injured kidney structure. Prednisone is effective in eliminating these symptoms, but it can not repair kidney damages, so Nephrotic Syndrome relapses easily if treated with prednisone.

For your 4 years old daughter, both her mental development and physical development are affected easily due to long-term usage of prednisone, so I suggested her to try natural remedies like Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy, Immunotherapy, Blood Pollution Therapy and so on. These alternative treatments not only help to prevent relapse of Nephrotic Syndrome, but also reverse illness condition. More importantly, they are harmless.
