Is Rituxan Treatment Effective for SDNS

Is Rituxan Treatment Effective for SDNSIs Rituxan Treatment Effective for SDNS (Steroid Dependant Nephrotic Syndrome)? Rituxan is a monoclonal antibody which is firstly approved for the treatment of NHL (Non Hodgkin Lymphoma) around the world. Nephrotic Syndrome is a kidney problem marked by increased permeability of glomerular filtration membrane which can cause massive proteinuria, swelling, hypoproteinemia and hyperlipemia. So, can rituxan be used to treat Steroid Dependant Nephrotic Syndrome? Is it an effective treatment?

As for this question, I will say “Yes, rituxan is effective in treating Steroid Dependant Nephrotic Syndrome .” Clinical studies show that after the rituxan treatment, SDNS can be brought under control effectively, and also the medicine dose of hormone medicine and immunosuppressive agents used in the treatment can be reduced greatly.Though helpful, the long-term usage of rituxan will cause many side effects like rash, headache, itching, hard breath, vomiting, temporary low blood pressure and arrhythmia. Therefore, it is not recommended for SDNS patients, especially for children with Nephrotic Syndrome.

In medicine, apart from rituxan, immunosuppressive agents and steroid medicines, micro-Chinese medicine also can be used to deal with Steroid Dependant Nephrotic Syndrome. Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy is a treatment based on a group of Chinese medicines which are used externally. In our lower back, there is ShenShu acupoints, effective ingredients in micro-Chinese medicine works on kidney damages directly through this acupoint and this can help to avoid possible side effects that appears through oral administration. With this treetment, SDNS also can be controlled well and what is more, some impaired kidney function can be regained successfully.
